Happy Birthday...

Today is our eldest daughter's birthday and I thought I was fine.... until her best friend dropped of a bunch of flowers to wish us happy birthday with Lindie's first birthday away from home.... and it wasn't just any flowers: sunflowers:  Lindie's favourite! When I phoned her up to wish her with her birthday, she was fine too until I told her about the bunch of flowers that Janneke dropped of: we were instantly both in tears!

First time!

Yesterday I unpacked my Singer Featherweight and stitched with it for the very first time! When I received it about 3 weeks ago I tried it out but it wouldn't work, so I took it to the Singer agent and asked them if something was wrong, because I couldn't get it to work..... it turned out that the bobbin timing was out and it had to be adjusted. They fixed it up for me and I was ready to go! BUT, then life got in the way and I just didn't have an ideal opportunity to sew on my new baby.
Well, yesterday the weather changed from sunshine to rain and I thought well, the customers will stay away, so I unpacked her. Needless to say, my expectations was wrong, the customers weren't phased by the few drops, but I did get a few moments to stitch! So cute! It purrs softly in your ears and the stitches are just so neat! I am busy sewing Edyta Sitars 2" Half Square Triangles on paper so I don't need to aim for a perfect 1/4 inch seam, I'm aiming for the line so it is so easy and very quick. When I'm done, I'll have 700 HST!!

Inspired

When I saw this I just couldn't stop myself! http://greenfairyquilts.blogspot.com/2013/02/my-quilting-is-in-magazine.html

I have the book called Dare to be square quilting so I eyed this pattern for a very long time and when I saw the exquisite work that Judi Madsen from Green Fairy Quilts did I just couldn't let it go....

It is single bed size and I am very happy with the result. Now just to quilt it as beautiful.....

Finished and gifted

I think the yellow binding finishes it of very well since we don't know whether it is a boy or a girl.
I had a customer here last week that was so in love with the quilt she wanted to take it with home!
I gave it to my housekeeper in case the baby comes a bit early and I can't travel to her home. She is due early March.

Busy ♥ busy ♥ busy

My new little bag!! I must confess, I am not a handbag person.... yes I might own a few, but they spent most of their time standing on my kitchen counter. I usually just grab my wallet and cellphone and off I go! But then I end up with car keys as well and I often wear a dress with no pockets so a problem arise.... Problem sorted! This new bag drapes across my chest, front pocket for cash, back pocket for car keys and a separate pocket for my credit card and the main pocket for my cell phone and tissues!!

Here is the link to the pattern: I just adjusted it smaller because that's what I wanted! My friend fell in love straight away, so I am sewing her one quickly as she leaves for Australia on Saturday and she says it the perfect travel size bag for her!
